Get Co-Sponsors for Senator Mike Barrett’s Bill SD.98

Going back at least 36 years, every major party candidate for President of the United States has released his or her tax returns.  This honorable tradition ended with the 2016 election.

Call or email your State Representative and State Senator and encourage them to co-sponsor Senator Mike Barrett’s Bill – SD.98, “An Act restoring financial transparency in presidential elections.”

This bill will ensure that individuals who run for president in Massachusetts make their tax returns public and disclose real or potential conflicts of interest. A presidential candidate who refused to submit tax returns or file a Statement of Financial Interests would be rendered ineligible to appear on the relevant Massachusetts primary or general election ballot.

Ask your State Representatives and State Senators to sign on by February 3rd; the more the better.  Share this post with your friends, share on social media and tag your Legislators.

Script: I’m calling to ask Senator/Representative to co-sponsor Senator Mike Barrett’s bill SD.98 ‘An Act restoring financial transparency in presidential elections.’ I am strongly in favor of him/her supporting this bill, which would ensure that individuals who run for president in Massachusetts make their tax returns public ad disclose real or potential conflicts of interest. Please let the senator/representative know that I’m hoping to see a statement from him/her on this issue.”

Let’s stay at it.
