On January 11 at 10:00 am the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee will begin a hearing on the nomination of Betsy DeVos to serve as Secretary of Education. Devos’ ideology champions for profit charter schools and the privatization of public education.
According to the Network for Public Education (NPE), “never has someone so uniquely unqualified been selected to this post. Ms. DeVos never attended a public school, never sent her children to one, and never has served in any educational or governmental capacity. Her only qualification seems to be her wealth, which she has used to promote a radical agenda of school privatization and vouchers.”
Please be sure to call every member of (HELP) prior to the January 11 hearing and lend your voice to this crucial appointment: HELP Committee Phone Numbers.
