Southeastern Mass (ATSEMA)

Map of Massachusetts with southeastern region highlighted

About our regional group:

Stretching from the northern-most tip of Boston’s South Shore, across the Cape and Islands, and down through northern Bristol County to Massachusetts’ South Coast, the Southeastern regional group of Action Together Massachusetts spans a wide geographic area. We try to collect and share information on events throughout this area, and we ally with several other groups in this large region.

Join us for Weekend of Women 2018!

On the one year anniversary of the Women’s March, several partners have some together to recognize the need for increased dialogue concerning the progress of women on the Southcoast. We are inviting all organizations and individuals to participate in a day of conversation, camaraderie and planning action.

January 20, 2018 women led organizations on the Southcoast will host the following in downtown New Bedford:

Forum on Women’s Issues: check in 10-1045am. Facilitated conversation from 11a-1p. Open to public participation to those who identify as female or non-binary. Registration required. Topics to include misogyny in the workplace, women and public safety, development of women in business & leadership, local media bias towards women.  Featured guest, Ms. Perman Hardy from Alabama.

Sisterhood luncheon: 1-2pm

Women’s Anniversary March 2-245pm: open to all, encouraging men supporting women to attend and families/youth marchers.

Following the March we anticipate a potluck style meet & greet with local activists and event sponsors open to all. Opportunity for local orgs to recruit volunteers, suggest local actions, network etc.

We hope that you will be interested in joining us for this event.

Visit our Facebook event or Meetup event for March updates.

***Specific fundraising request!*** We have the unique opportunity to bring Ms. Perman Hardy from Alabama to attend our forum and march in New Bedford! Her story is here. She will come talk to us about black voter suppression and being an activist in the south amongst other things! We are working with other local activists to cover her travel expenses, welcome and orientation to the city and stipend for speaking. We estimate needing approximately $3000 for Miss Perman and guest to travel, lodging and expenses.

If you would like to contribute please use the Donate button on this page, or you can buy a copy of The Resistance Cookbook to support the cause.

If you’d rather mail a check made out to Action Together Massachusetts to avoid the actblue markup the address is 258 Harvard St #337 Brookline MA 02446 or if local to New Bedford can ping Ruth, Beth or Dana to drop off a cash donation.

Any amount raised over what is needed for this particular expense will be used for similar program/speaker fees or other Women’s March / Forum expenses.
